Daniel worked with our son, a bright kid with extreme dyslexia, throughout his junior year of high school. He provided home visits 1 to 2 times a week. From the first day, Dan easily established a comfortable connection with our child and with the rest of the family. He was relaxed but focused, easily able to transition from one level of math to another, and explained the material extremely well. Dan was willing to reschedule or add sessions as needed, was always on time and made good use of every minute he spent with our son. I cannot imagine our son would have passed his math classes this year without Dan's support and we are crossing our fingers he will be willing to work with us next year!
I found Dan in the last 4 weeks of a very difficult chemistry course. I had been working with another tutor (not through this site) for about 2.5 months and was struggling a LOT. Fed up, I contacted Dan who 1)arrived on time 2) got right down to business 3) explained things clearly, sometimes in different ways if I wasn't getting it, at the right speed and with incredible patience 4) made me feel that my understanding of chemistry was HIS priority and never made me feel stupid. I ended up getting a C+ (borderline B-) in the class when I thought I was going to fail. In hindsight, if I had found Dan 2 months earlier, I really think I might have snagged an "A" instead. I highly recommend Dan, he really is a talented instructor, wants you to succeed and one very smart guy! Thank you Dan!
Daniel Kagan stands out not only as an exemplary tutor but an exemplary professional and person. He's one of those people you meet who just makes you very glad that you did. Our daughter was in danger of failing A.P. Stats her final semester this year. I contacted Daniel who agreed to meet with us. During the first session, he adeptly diagnosed the issues and laid out a program to get her back on track, maintain, and review for finals. He even tailored his approach after the first session to answer her many 'why' questions up front which helped her learn faster and retain more. He was 100% committed to her success and was there every step of the way ensuring that she really mastered the material. Daniel's professionalism was exemplary - setting and keeping appointments, setting and sticking to a plan (adapting it when necessary), arriving on time, and a always having a patient/professional approach. By the end of the semester, she was the one tutoring others in the class and the resulting grade helped cement her acceptance at UCLA. Thank you, Daniel!
Daniel was extremely helpful and improved my test grade by more than a grade letter. He was able to answer all my questions and explain chemistry and statistics in a way that was easy to understand and made sense. I contacted him needing help on very short notice and he was able to accommodate my schedule. I highly recommend him!
