Experience

I want to be your tutor because I am passionate about writing and want everyone in my community to be successful writers. I recently finished my Master's in RWS at San Diego State University. I have worked as a Teaching Associate for the RWS department at SDSU for 2 years, and have also worked as Writing Fellow (Teaching Assistant). I have also recently accepted a position as a graduate tutor for San Diego Mesa College starting in Fall 2017. I have taken various university level rhetoric and writing courses at SDSU (both at the undergraduate and graduate level) which make me highly qualified to tutor students in rhetoric and writing, such as (but not limited to) the following: Advanced Writing Strategies (RWS 500W) Digital Rhetoric (RWS 511) Professional Writing (RWS 503) Reading and Writing Rhetorically (RWS 600) History of Rhetoric (RWS 601) Teaching of Writing (RWS 609) Research Methods in RWS (RWS 640) In addition to the above courses, I have also taken all the required English Composition classes at Grossmont College in my undergraduate career and have done extremely well in all of them (a "B" in English 120 and an "A" in English 124, which are equivalent to the writing courses required at San Diego State University). In addition to the I have tutored in the English Writing Center at Grossmont College, and I have also worked as a tutor in their Tutoring Center. I tutor all levels of English Composition, from Developmental English and all the way to Advanced Composition and Critical Thinking. I have a lot of experience interacting with people of different backgrounds, which helps me to relate to others and allows me to be patient with them in helping them become better writers. When I was in High School, I traveled to other countries in 2006 and 2007 as a Student Ambassador representing the United States of America for the People to People Student Ambassador Program. These experiences have helped me to be more open minded, more patient, more understanding, and more caring around other people, which helps me when it comes to tutoring.

Hobbies

I'm strongly passionate about writing and literature, and I hope I can share that same enthusiasm with others. I also love music and movies; I get a lot of enjoyment from that. I'm also a writer, currently in the midst of a novel and trying to get short stories published on the side. When it comes to tutoring, I'm pretty laid back and understanding; I understand how many people can have trouble with writing, so I don't lose my cool or judge your writing level. I am here simply just to help improve your writing skills. I charge $30/hr, plus an additional $5 for any distance that goes over 30 minutes from where I live. I can also do Tutoring sessions online through Skype, so if you would like to arrange that, just let me know and we can arrange a time to tutor over Skype.
