Experience
I am currently working on my PhD in mathematics at the University of California - San Diego. I have taught for six years, in the classroom and in private tutoring. While working on my dissertation, I have gained a wide range of experience in the math field, and would be happy to tutor any and all of these subjects. I enjoy personal tutoring because it provides a safe setting for a student to reveal personal weaknesses, questions, or fears. I have a big interest in how math is interpreted by individuals, and I believe private tutoring can encourage students to ask questions that they are too afraid to ask amongst a large group of peers (such as in a traditional classroom setting.) Each student interprets math differently, and it is up to me to decipher what that style is in order to make sure that the material comes through in a clear and organized way. I am happy to teach all levels of math, from geometry through upper-level calculus. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and learning about history, art, and literature, as well as all things having to do with Star Trek. I also enjoy hiking, playing chess, and watching the Mets play.
