Experience
I enjoy teaching so much that I plan to be a college professor with the hope that I may continue to share my passion for biology with others. I have a relaxed style of teaching; I prefer to guide students using the Socratic method of asking questions until they discover the answer. I tend to use visual aids and questioning to enhance their knowledge as the goal is to ensure they retain the material rather than simply memorize facts. I have taught many biology courses, including general biology and organismal biology. I have also assisted professors in general biology, marine biology, bioinformatics, and molecular ecology. I have learned so much from my students. I like the challenge of teaching science, and this motivates me to be better. I have a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology with a minor in Chemistry from California State University, Long Beach. I received my master's in biology from California State University, Northridge. My graduate studies centered around the genetics of a local marine fish. I am dedicated to the study of marine life and have a passion for teaching it, so hope to make it my career. All aspects of biology are interesting to me, including evolution, fish biology, molecular biology, and organismal biology. I like to share my passion for biology, and help students gain a deeper understanding of the subject. In addition to marine biology, I enjoy scuba diving, sailing, and being outdoors.
