I have broad experience of over 10 years of working as a Documentary Linguist and an educator specializing in documentary and descriptive linguistics, reading, Spanish, ESL/ELL instruction, language consulting, and professional development training in public & private schools at all levels throughout the US. I work closely with students to identify their specific needs to provide an ideal learning environment so that they can excel. As part of my BA in Spanish, I studied abroad in Granada, Spain and in Oaxaca, Mexico. At the University of Texas at Austin, in the department of Spanish and Portuguese, I have taught beginning and intermediate Spanish courses "Spanish 506" and "Spanish 508" and have worked as a teaching assistant for the same courses. For reading instruction, I am trained in a specific method that is designed to help student eliminate mild to severe reading problems. After my undergraduate degree, I spent nearly seven years working as an education consultant where I traveled extensively throughout the United States setting up reading programs in K-12 and college level education settings. During that time, I trained teachers and teaching assistants to specialize in this specific reading methodology for the complete elimination of students reading problems. This methodology can also be used for English language learning for English language learners. As part of my Ph.D., I worked extensively as a documentary and descriptive linguist documenting indigenous languages of southern Mexico. At the University of Texas at Austin, I taught Linguistics and worked in a digital language archive for the indigenous languages of Latin America.
