Larisa C.
Private tutor in San Diego, CA
Education
I earned a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from University of Miami in 2016 (GPA: 3.81) and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the College of William and Mary in 2009 (GPA: 3.75). I became a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of California in August 2017.
Experience
While in graduate school, I served as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer in a variety of undergraduate psychology courses (e.g. personality psych, research methods etc.). I also independently taught a full semester introduction to statistics course for undergraduate psychology majors. During my academic career, I have had to study independently for 5 high-stakes standardized tests (ACT, SAT, GRE, EPPP, CPLEE) and have scored high enough on them to earn me admission into highly competitive undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs. I scored in the 98th or higher percentile on the verbal portions of the SAT, ACT and GRE and I scored in the 75th percentile on the quantitative portion of the GRE. I love tutoring students and feel most gratified when I can help students master previously challenging topics. I really feel best when I can help students achieve that "a-ha" moment of understanding.

Hobbies
I've lived all over the country (Massachusetts, Missouri, Ohio, Virginia, Florida) but San Diego is my favorite place so far! I keep myself busy with a number of creative hobbies, including singing, dancing and musical improv. Living in California has helped me uncover my love of hiking and I've been fortunate enough to explore a bunch of national parks over the past year. My goal is to visit all the National Parks in the Western half of the country over the next few years.
