Education

I just graduated from my high school with a 3.8 GPA and am currently a freshman studying physics at Miramar College. I am also currently grinding out my math courses as well as general ed's, and am looking to transfer to a university in a couple years. I at first didn't think I wanted to be a physics major. I originally thought I wanted to do Business and Economics as I had a natural and quick understanding of those subjects. However, after learning about the many fields in Physics through my AP classes. I got very interested in the applied math, relativity, and quantum mechanics. It all looked cool to me so I decided to take on the challenge.

Experience

I tested 3's in most of my AP classes except for AP physics 1 when I received a score of 1. This was because the learning curve is very difficult the first year. Never the less I received A's in every class. I also got A and B scores on my chapter tests and labs. I can still regurgitate most of the information from my Physics and Econ classes as I answer questions and help on a forum regularly. I want to do tutoring because I take passion in interacting with people and helping them; as I once did when I was an IT technician for a computer repair shop. I really want to help people out and see them succeed. For me, school was a learning curve and I had to figure out many ways on my own to make learning easier for me and get the results I wanted. I feel as if I can share my experiences and pass on my strategies, that I can make for a relatable and helpful tutor. So far, I have been tutoring middle schoolers around my neighborhood. For several months now, I have learned to treat my students with a lot of compassion and empathy in order to create an environment that makes them feel comfortable to ask questions and motivated get work done. I also try to keep the parents as well informed as possible. Some students I have worked with in the past have been very far behind. One student I tried to help a little extra by communicating to their teacher the realities of their situation. Hopefully so this student isn't getting tested on material they are no where close to understanding. Having recently gone through the school system and seeing kids who struggle through it, I have the empathy and the sense of urgency to want to help them, such as communicating to this student's teacher.
