Education

University of San Francisco - BA, English Writing , San Diego State University - MFA, Creative Writing-Poetry

Experience

I attended the University of San Francisco to earn my bachelor's degree in English. I'm currently studying at San Diego State University in the creative writing program to earn a degree in poetry. My goal is to get work published and then to teach college writing. I'm currently a writing tutor at San Diego State University in addition to tutoring privately. I look at writing assignments as a combination of puzzles and tasks that provide opportunities to present new ideas. When I work with students, I provide optimism and enthusiasm. As a tutor, my favorite topics to cover include writing assignments, rhetoric, college-level rhetoric and writing studies, classes in high school English, AP composition and literature, and AP history. I've had a lot of experiences as a tutor and teacher, and I've had the opportunity to teach outdoor education, healthy eating, and poetry. I enjoy the individualized approach of tutoring, and I'm looking forward to helping each student that I work with become a better writer. When I have free time, I like to write myself, work on my blog, read, go for runs, and meet people. I also like garage sales.
