Experience
I attended the University of Washington where I earned my BA with a major in communications and a minor in Spanish. During these years, I spent time studying in Spain so I could really increase my knowledge of the Spanish language and culture in a way you really can't unless you're immersed in it. I even spend each summer working at a camp for children who have been orphaned in Mexico, where I am an assistant program director. Now, I'm studying for my master's in teaching and learning at Point Loma Nazarene University. I have a great passion for learning and teaching, and enjoy sharing that with my students. I have no doubt that every student is able to succeed once they discover the right path for their learning needs. In addition to Spanish, I love writing. I know essays can be a great challenge for students, and even overwhelming at times. As a tutor, I help ease students' fears by guiding them as they discover the process of writing by digging information they didn't even realize they had. It's a victory when my students can use the information they learn and apply it in totally different situations. I also enjoy snowboarding, traveling, and hiking, as well as music.
