I have been a teacher's assistant for English composition and rhetoric classes, as well as postmodern poetry, and both experiences helped me discover how much I enjoy teaching and helping students to navigate literature and the English language. I'm no stranger to rising to the occasion in leadership positions; I was president of my resident hall at my alma mater and a manager at my previous job, so I work well under pressure and lead effectively. I am goal oriented and continually strive for excellence, as proven by my 3.8 Major-specific GPA, and numerous National Honors Society invitations.

Hobbies
During my free time I enjoy volunteering at local high schools and grade schools to tutor students and help run charity events. I am an avid reader and am always on the lookout for new bookstores with great reads. I'm also interested in foreign cultures and learning as much as I can from people with vastly different backgrounds and lifestyles, which Is why I'm earning my TEFL certificate and applying to teach English in Japan next year. I'm a big essayist and I did a lot of my coursework in critical theory, so for fun, I like to pick apart movies, commercials, magazine ads, etc., so in short, I'm no fun to go to a movie with, but I make excellent small talk!
