Education

Hello! My name is Darlena. I'm currently a student at San Diego City College working on my general education to achieve my Associates Degree in English. My goals are to transfer on up to SDSU to obtain a Bachelors in English Education and to obtain my ESL credentials.

Experience

Currently I am a tutor for my niece and nephew. They are both a different age group; one in 8th grade and the other in 6th grade. I tutor them on their English assignments, writing, and some history. I am very fascinated with different languages, so I picked up the goal to master in the German and Spanish Language. While it's challenging, I am definitely enjoying the experience of learning a whole new language. I want to expand my experience in tutoring due to the fact that I am an English education major and would like to be a teacher as well as an ESL teacher.Tutoring will not only give other people who need help & the opportunity to learn more, but to as well teach me to properly teach/tutor future scholars.

Hobbies

I enjoy reading a range of genres of books, however fairytales, history on the holocaust, and poetry are my favorite. My mother is a librarian assistant at a elementary school back in Texas so I especially love children's books considering I would always be at the library and read them to kids and even to myself. My other hobbies include bike riding, baking, and writing.
