Education
I completed my master’s degree at San Diego State University in 2015. I earned a Master of Science, with a focus on environmental issues here in San Diego County. In 2002 I received my Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential at California State University San Marcos, where I specialized in multi-cultural education. In 2000 I graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. I have quite a broad background, making me an ideal tutor for all ages!
Experience
I’m an easy going, down to earth, science geek who loves to travel and help others gain amazing life experiences trough learning. In all, I have over 15 years of professional experience working with students, whose ages range from 3-40! I have taught pre-school, elementary, middle school and university (SDSU) in a variety of settings. I have professionally tutored elementary, middle school, high school and college. Most of my professional teaching experience was in a low performing school district where 80% of the students were second language learners. While challenging, it allowed me to be creative and innovative in my teaching. I received my GATE Certificate from Cal State Fullerton in 2005 and spent 7 years designing programs and curriculum for accelerated students. My two favorite subjects are math and science. I love teaching math and science because so much of our everyday lives is uniquely connected to the fundamentals of mathematics and the scientific method. I also have had incredible success teaching writing to students of all ages. One of the things I specialize in is how to organize your thoughts and form them into sentences, paragraphs and ultimately, stories, essays and papers. Over three years I visited over 150 classrooms to help teachers and students prepare for district and state standardized testing for grades K-8. Hobbies
I am deeply passionate about improving, conserving and preserving the ecosystems here on Earth, and I believe education is a great way to share knowledge and open up our minds. I love to spend time at the beach, snorkel and travel, I have been all over the world! The best place I have visited is the place I live, San Diego! It is gorgeous and full of culture and awesome activities. Plus, the weather is the best in the world!
