I love math, I love learning and I love people! I first began private math tutoring while studying for my mathematics degree at San Francisco State University in 2005. I worked in an after-school program, Math Circle and also worked privately with students who wanted to advance their math skills. While in college, I taught supplemental Calculus courses and volunteered in high school classrooms around the city. In 2008, I taught math and English at a primary school in Northern Uganda. After college, I spent a year teaching pre-school and was the lead instructor for a math tutoring program in the Lake Tahoe region. These experiences inspired me to pursue a teaching career in math education. I moved to San Diego in 2011 to work as an inclusion support specialist in the Special Education department at High Tech High Media Arts. A year later, I transitioned into teaching math. I taught math for three years where I gained experience implementing the common core math standards, creating integrated math curriculum to meet individual needs, designing projects that connected the math to real world situations, accommodating and modifying the curriculum for gifted students or students with special needs, and assessing the student’s growth and development as well as content mastery.I offer an engaging math learning experience, where I can guarantee each student will grow in understanding and appreciation of the beautiful yet complex subject of math! I have experience with all levels and types of learners. I am easily approachable, non-judgmental, and relate wonderfully with students of all ages. I have experience with all levels and types of learners. I am passionate about learning about my students’ strengths and encouraging them to use and flourish in those strengths. I love building relationships with my students where we can trust and respect each other. I want to be an asset in helping my students reach their high school goals and push them towards college success and preparedness. All in all, I believe that the best education is individual. That’s why tutoring is so important to me.

Hobbies
I was born and raised in the mountains of Truckee, California near Lake Tahoe. I enjoy rock climbing, camping, surfing and cycling. I appreciate San Diego and am happy to be planting my roots here. I am getting married in October which is why I am transitioning out of full-time teaching. I hope to start a family soon. Being able to tutor means a lot to me because I can connect with our incredible youth and foster CONFIDENCE, GROWTH, and LEARNING!
