Education
I graduated from the University of California San Diego with a B.S in biochemistry and cell biology in 2010. I was in a biochemistry lab that focused purifying proteins that play a role in cancer cells for a year. I then joined an immunology lab for a year and a half in which we studied proteins that affect cells that fight off diseases and could potentially play a role in vaccinations.
Experience
I worked as a tutor throughout high school tutoring kids from ages 7-16 in math and biology (I received a 5 on my AP biology exam). More recently I served as a teaching assistant during my last year in college. The courses I taught included metabolic biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology. Once I started working as a TA, I realized that I loved connecting with students and trying to figure out different ways to explain concepts to them that they didn't understand from class. I also worked as a research assistant in a biochemistry and immunology lab, so I have a better understanding of how to apply the theories learned in class to a lab setting.
