Education
I graduated from the University of California San Diego with a B.S in biochemistry and cell biology in 2010. I was in a biochemistry lab that focused purifying proteins that play a role in cancer cells for a year. I then joined an immunology lab for a year and a half in which we studied proteins that affect cells that fight off diseases and could potentially play a role in vaccinations.
Experience
I worked as a tutor throughout high school tutoring kids from ages 7-16 in math and biology (I received a 5 on my AP biology exam). More recently I served as a teaching assistant during my last year in college. The courses I taught included metabolic biochemistry, cell biology, and immunology. Once I started working as a TA, I realized that I loved connecting with students and trying to figure out different ways to explain concepts to them that they didn't understand from class. I also worked as a research assistant in a biochemistry and immunology lab, so I have a better understanding of how to apply the theories learned in class to a lab setting.

Hobbies
After I graduated from UCSD I immediately started working for a biotech company which takes up most of my time. But when I'm not there I can be found at my boxing gym or at home trying to research nutrition and fitness. I've recently become very passionate about understand how our bodies respond to exercise and different forms of nutrition, so I have been finding ways to create healthier meals that I actually enjoy eating. And sometimes I find time on the weekend to go out salsa dancing.
