I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I majored in Agricultural and Consumer Economics and minored in German. I graduated in May 2013 in my school's Honors Program. I also spent one semester in Germany, where I studied graduate-level economics, and one semester in Austria, where I studied German.
Experience
I have years of experience tutoring and teaching. I recently completed a year of volunteer work in the Middle East, during which I was an English teacher to elementary school students. I also tutored middle school and high school students during this time. This has provided me with lots of experience with ESL/EFL students. Additionally, I have tutored undergraduate and master's students, as well as provided assistance with editing and writing papers. I received a cumulative ACT score of 31, with a 36 (perfect score) in reading comprehension. My SAT cumulative score was 2060, with a 710 in reading, 700 in math and 650 in writing. Why do I want to tutor? I love helping people learn and understand. I am very patient. There is no better feeling than seeing a student excited about learning and proud of a great test or essay score. I have experience tutoring children with behavioral and learning disabilities. I am dyslexic, which I believe helps me relate to students having a tough time grasping certain concepts.
