Experience
I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 2014 with a degree in physics and a minor in mathematics. I am now in the process of applying to graduate schools that offer planetary science programs. While in college, I tutored students in physics, algebra, and calculus. In addition, I helped my professors grade tests and homework assignments.Science and mathematics are my favorite subjects, and I enjoy teaching any material related to these disciplines. As a tutor, I have my students first understand the material covered by teaching the basic fundamentals, and then I build upon their knowledge. I often see people become frustrated and disenchanted with math, viewing it as a sequence of numbers limited by rules and equations that must be memorized. In actuality, math can be explained on a much simpler level that the students can visualize and understand. I believe that there are many ways to teach a subject, and it is important to find out which way works best for each student.Outside of the school setting, I have taught summer camp at a local community center, as well as helped my younger sister with her homework and assignments. My other hobbies include playing music, programming computer software, and going rock climbing.
