Experience

When I was a visiting lecturer at Ohio University I thought some day I might like to instruct students in the fine arts. I hope a successful interview with you will afford me that opportunity. I am very grateful and have a lot of respect for my high school and college art teachers for they had a profound influence on my career choice. Their encouragement and guidance was instrumental in my having an exciting and rewarding career in the arts. At Bethany College I studied drawing, oil & watercolor painting, ceramics, textile design & art history. At Columbus Art & Design I studied life drawing, oil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic, & mixed media painting, sculpture, illustration, art history and graphic design. At Ohio University I studied drawing, oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel & mixed media painting, sculpture, print making, art history, illustration, advertising design, and photography as well as the required academics. I also took some graduate student painting classes. I was an "A" student in my art classes. After receiving my BFA degree, the Dean of the Fine Arts College asked me to be art director and lecturer for their educational television station. I enjoyed teaching students at the college level. After 6 years, I sought the brilliant new sunsets of the west coast. In Los Angeles I was senior art director for an advertising agency supervising several art directors and graphic artists for 19 years. I moved to San Diego, went back to school to learn computer graphics and worked for my brother’s graphic design studio. Now I’m painting for my own enjoyment. I have been fortunate to have had a wonderful art career and now I look forward to some part-time teaching and “giving back” as my art teachers and professors had done for me. I love young talent at all levels and hope you will give me a chance to share my love and inspiration for drawing, painting or graphic design with you.
