Lance N.
Private tutor in San Diego, CA
Education
University of California, San Diego, B.S. Physics (in progress), 3rdyear, 3.0 GPA
Experience
4 years of tutoring high school and college level math and physics. I specialize in students with special needs and learning disabilities. I want to be a tutor because I know there are a lot of kids out there that have the potential to do really well with their education but do not receive the guidance they need. When a student "gets it" and the light bulb goes off in their head, it makes it the greatest job in the world. Ive taken two years of college calculus and physics. I received a 4 on both my calculus and physics AP exams. I'm familiar with the new common core coursework as well as the general education used otherwise.

Hobbies
I am currently in the Air Force training to become a pilot. This has helped me with discipline and patience which is what allows me to work well with students who need extra help with certain subjects. I am very talkative and easy going. All of my past students consider me more of a mentor and friend than a tutor which seems to help them learn even better because there is often a divide between students and teachers. I am also working in a physics research lab where I have been lucky enough to work on many projects most undergraduates never experience. I design, fabricate, and operate advanced experiments in the field of condensed matter. In my free time I compete and practice with the UCSD snowboard team and the UCSD Archery team.
