Education
I earned a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology (Cum Laude) from Florida Institute of Technology in 2013 with a 3.5 GPA. I was awarded the Distinguished Student Award in Marine Biology at Florida Tech in 2013. Also during my undergraduate career I also completed my own research, studying the effects of past climatic variability on the health of Panamanian coral reefs throughout the last 6,000 years.
Experience
I have a passion for education both in the classroom and outside the classroom. I am a marine science educator at Birch Aquarium at Scripps and thus have great experience teaching K-12 students in a number of the life sciences. I am an award winning filmmaker with official selection into the BLUE Ocean Film Festival and Beneath the Waves Film Festival. I make educational documentaries for audiences of all ages focused on ocean science and conservation topics. My latest film project was about a research expedition to the Antarctic I participated in studying the effects of climate change on the deep sea floor. During my undergraduate degree I not only became well versed in all things biology, but I also studied many related subjects including chemistry, genetics, physics, calculus, and statistics.
